Ancient Arts Yarn is a hand-crafted hand-dyeing company that draws its inspiration from nature, art and love stories. They use only top quality bases, ethically processed and spun exclusively for Ancient Arts Yarn. All wools are individually hand-dyed in small batches, using environmentally conscious dyeing and practices.
You'll enjoy knitting this luxurious fingering size yarn knowing you're helping to reduce waste. Indeed, the fibres that were previously discarded after the carding process are now recovered and transformed into a luxurious high-twist wool. Large wool mills process several hundred kilos of fibre for each spun wool, but when the process is complete, there is still fibre left on the machines that needs to be cleaned before the next production run can begin, to avoid mixing the fibres from one wool to the next. This is perfectly usable fibre, but there is not enough left to do anything with it so it is discarded. Ancient Arts Yarns worked with the mill to recover these fibres, mix them together and make a brand new wool for them. This process reduces waste and preserves top quality fibres.
The result is a quality yarn that is pleasant to knit to which mohair adds a soft halo while nylon and silk make it more resistant. The dye applied on this base gives amazing results and makes it an excellent choice for a wide variety of projects.
