Mittens knitting

Level : Intermediate - prerequisite: mastery of basic knitting
When : Thursdays from January 29 2026 to February 12 at 6:00 PM.
Duration : 3 X 1:30 hours

In this workshop for advanced knitters, we'll explore the intricacies of mitten knitting. Using a circular needle and the "magic loop" technique or a set of DPNs, we will cast on stitches, form the inside of the hand, put stitches on hold (and retrieve them afterwards!) in order to knit a thumb, make decreases to have a nice round end of the mitten, and we will learn how to finish the mitten with an invisible seam.

For the more adventurous knitters, you will have the opportunity to make colour blocks, stripes or a colourwork pattern.

****Warning: To take full advantage of this workshop, it is NECESSARY to be comfortable with knitting stitches in place, purl stitches, ribs as well as with the rise of stitches on the needle.***

Material provided :

1 skein of wool from Laines Douceurs (in Kamouraska) and a contrasting colour in suffisant quantity for the colour work.

Materials to purchase during the first lesson:

1 circular needle (fixed or interchangeable) 4mm or 4.5mm (or similar) with a cable of at least 100cm / 40” or a set of double pointed needles. If you already have these needles, feel free to bring them!

All classes are held at the La Bobineuse boutique located at 2196 ave du Mont-Royal Est, at the corner of rue Parthenais.

For your convenience, course costs include all the materials you will need. All that's missing is you! Come to class armed with your best smile and your determination and we will have a great time together discovering new techniques.

How to register? Two options are available to you: you can go to the store to pay the registration fees and thus reserve your place. You can also book online now by adding the class of your choice to the cart and following the purchase steps.

Places are limited and classes fill up quickly so don't wait! The cost of the course must be paid in full at the time of registration. Registrations are final and will only be refunded if canceled by us. If you are unable to attend your course, please notify us at least 72 hours in advance so that we can transfer your registration to another date. If you notify us less than 72 hours before the start of the course, we will be unable to move your registration.
